Shaoliang Wang, MD (王韶亮)

Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine

Second-opinion review · plastic surgery · revision and complex repair

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital, and the reviewing surgeon for this service. He previously served as deputy chief of plastic and aesthetic surgery at Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, and brings more than two decades of tertiary-hospital surgical experience to his practice. He uses he and his pronouns.

In this service his role is to read — operative notes, histology reports, imaging files, clinical photographs, and the plan that has been proposed — and to state in writing what the record supports, what it does not, and what would have to be examined to settle the remainder. His revision and reconstructive work shapes that reading: he sees, more often than most, what a plan looks like years later, and he is willing to give the opinion that a plan should not proceed.

What a reviewer owes you

A review must say what it cannot see. Tissue quality, healing, the way a scar behaves and how a feature moves in animation are not in the file, and a reviewer who does not name those gaps is overstating the opinion. Where the records are incomplete, the honest answer is that they are incomplete.
