1. Educational purpose
The information on this website is provided for general education about second opinions in plastic and aesthetic surgery. It is not a substitute for a personal assessment, examination, and plan made by a qualified physician.
2. A review of records is not an examination
An opinion based on records, images and photographs cannot replace an examination. Tissue quality, the behaviour of a scar, how a feature moves in animation and how you personally heal are not visible on paper, and a reviewer cannot confirm a diagnosis that has never been examined or tested. Where a question cannot be answered from the record, the honest opinion says so.
3. No guaranteed outcomes
A second opinion may confirm the plan you have been given, and it may raise an option that was not discussed. It cannot guarantee a better result, and it does not commit any surgeon to operate or you to proceed. Results vary from person to person; every intervention has limits and risks, which are discussed individually before consent. Any description of typical courses on this site is general and may not apply to your situation.
4. Not an offer of treatment
An opinion is not an offer of treatment and does not replace informed consent, which is a separate conversation with whoever will perform any procedure. Nothing on this site should be read as a recommendation to proceed with, or to avoid, a particular operation in an individual case.
5. Seek professional advice
A review must never delay urgent treatment. If you have a rapidly growing or bleeding lesion, severe pain, fever with spreading redness, difficulty breathing, or a wound that is not healing, seek immediate medical attention rather than a review. Tell your treating team that you are seeking a review, so that nothing is postponed. For general questions, arrange an assessment with a qualified physician.
